A key component of managing the application estate is knowing which apps you use and just as important, the ones you no longer use. An effective Application Governance process underpinned by the Camwood tenets of “Optimise what you need and use, rationalise the duplicates and challenge all new applications coming into your estate.” I would put a healthy bet that larger firms already have all the applications they need – they just need to understand how to monetise their own application collateral.
